City Lights & Salad

California the city of high hopes, fallen dreams and half eaten salads!

The sun and beach definitely make you want to stay in shape but how little can you possibly eat? Apparently you can spot the locals a mile away from a tourist.

I’ve been on vacation here in Southern California aka SoCal for a little over 10 days now and every place we go eat, they say to us ” have a great trip”.

I was wondering how they could tell us apart from a local? We breathe the same air, dress more or less the same .. but we clearly eat MORE.

I don’t know about you but if I’m going I go out to a restaurant aka pay for a meal, you can bet I’m not going to get a $15 salad… in the event that i do, you can also bet that I am going to finish that salad too.

We’ve been to the high and low areas of tinsel town and witnessed the range rovers all the way to the homeless sleeping on the beach.

There’s a wide range of people in Los Angeles, and to me, no one here looks or acts the way “Californians” do on TV.

Everyone has been very helpful, polite, smiles at you when your walking down the street and the driving here, I’ve never seen this much respect in America, ever.

We also haven’t run into any baywatch beach babes… all these people can’t be tourists, after all, a majority of them have a dog and leave their plates half full.

Inspiration Point

Day 3 – Hollywood

The Hollywood sign has been my inspiration since the first time I laid my eyes on a picture of it.

Seeing the sign from a distance doesn’t inspire you as much as seeing it literally – up close and personal!

We spent today in the area and I just had to see this sign, I googled where the best spot was to see it and we were on our way to the sign.

They forgot to mention the windy roads, steep hills and scary views… as we drove through Beechwood Dr. I held my breath for every turn, you literally drive up a mountain that resembles mount Everest (minus the snow). Once you reach the famous Mulholland Dr. your not allowed to drive any further but the Hollywood sign takes a whole new meaning seeing it from this view – its HUGE!! it’s like a 3D movie – it’s literally in your face and that alone makes a huge impact on your mind, body and soul.

The sign is a symbol of achievement – to me. Even though at this point in my life I haven’t achieved as much as I would have liked, I am still grateful for what I have accomplished thus far.

Seeing the sign at that view, opened my mind to a whole new inspirational vortex.

From here on out, whatever it takes, never give up, never let go of what makes you happy. Go out and live your dreams, because you only live once.

Summer Sun

“it’s always sunny in california”…. very true but they never said it would be cold!

Our second day in LA and its cloudy skies and about 60 degrees, yes I am talking about the same Los Angeles as your thinking of… I couldn’t believe it either, I know the movies hype things up a lot, but how can they fake that beach weather?

Luckily this weather scare only lasted one day.. forecast for the rest of this week is high 90s.

We visited Santa Monica, the end of the Route 66 trail – as the sign on the Santa Monica Pier says. Santa Monica is beautiful, clean, beach volleyball, carnival rides and tons of people.

We saw tons of families spending their day riding their bikes or rollerblading with their dogs…. seriously, does anyone work here? … still figuring this one out.

Aside from the beach, the third street promenade is a stretch of stores and restaurants with that laid back Californian vibe, definitely worth checking out if your ever in the area.

Permanent Smile

Just hopped off the plane at LAX … -nope this isn’t a Miley Cyrus song.. I literally just landed in LA and something came over me.

After Spending countless hours preparing to travel over 3000 miles on a 5+ hr flight, hoping we land safe and sound, then seeing all these famous landmarks … Sunset BLvd.. Wilshire…UCLA .. and those beautiful palm trees with the sun shining through, makes all that hassle worth it.

Once it hit me that I’m in LA… I immediately wanted to go out and explore … but of course traveling with others always leads to the opposite of what you want to do … after everyone got their beauty rest I was ready to start my vacation.

1 day in LA and I’ve already picked up on the LA vibe which so far doesn’t seem much different than NYC.

The words “awesome” the color neon and traffic are three things that stand out so far, il explain more in depth later.

thinking ….

okay il explain now.

I’ve noticed everyone here likes to stand out, hence the neon color.. I’ve noticed a ton of people wearing neon green pants, shoes, shoe laces and shirts, as If LA didn’t stand out enough on the map… its definitely glowing now.

Traffic, well where isn’t there traffic ? … but man oh man they weren’t kidding … morning, day and night that freeway is constant cars! Where are u going at 3am? … take me with u!
if NYC is the city that never sleeps then what is LA?

Cali is known for that surfer, sun and sand vibe but how many times can you say Awesome before its not awesome anymore? … clearly, a lot.
We found a nice cafe in brentwood to eat a late lunch, great location, good food but out waitress was just shy of “awesome” …
I couldn’t enjoy my meal because that word replayed in my head over and over again.

Day one down, 11 more to go..
Tomorrow, Santa Monica and Hollywood…. how awesome is that?

Take Your Passion & Make it Happen

“The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be. -Oprah”

We are here for a reason, that’s the rumor going around, whether is true or not we should spend our time here on earth wisely.

how many of you are actually out living your dreams? probably a small percentage of you reading this…. what’s the hold up? –
-money
– self- esteam
– knowledge

.. whatever it may be, know this, it all begins with a single step…
one you take a step, you take another and another and before you know it you are well on your way to a greater and better life.

so go on, take your passion and make it happen!!

Lets go!

“there ain’t no better time, i’m talking here and now, i’m talking here and now – let’s go!”

When words fail – music speaks.

Sometimes we all feel low, feel scared, nervous, anxious about our life – our future, whats happening now or what you have planned ahead.

I’ve learned the hard way that there is no better time than NOW.

Planning is a good guide but you can’t plan everything – instead of waiting for the right time to come, why not start now? Lets make it happen.

Whatever your passion is, don’t wait. Tomorrow may never come.

Today you inspired me…

What Inspires you?

Without inspiration our minds…our well being is unable to move forward….

Today, YOU inspired me.

You inspired me to wake up this morning….You made me move on with the day….you helped me go through the day and welcome it with new things, and let go of the bad…

You inspired me to realize the difference between right and wrong, and what is really important to us as human beings..

at the end of the day, its not about how much money you have in the bank, what clothes your wearing, what cars you have or what new techonology item you can buy..

At the end of the day its all about who is there with you …who is there for you and who you can count on.

Inspire

& you will continue to do so everyday there after…

Editing Rules

Editing isn’t just about making the story line flow …here’s some Editing Rules to follow:

-Make every shot count—omit needless shots.
-Always cut to an action (this is a big one)
-Never split an action across a cut—it weakens the cut.
-Never cut out of a shot before the actor’s dialogue is finished
-Overlap only incoming dialogue.
-Make every cut on a clean frame of action. (In or out)
-Always cut to the other character when he/she is asked a question
-Balance your shot sizes and learn to rhythm your cuts.

Who Controls Your Happiness??

When your a kid, your parents say to you, “You can be anything you want to be when your older” but do they always mean it? I wanted to be a lot of things when I was younger, an astronaut, then an architect …a designer… a hacker…then somewhere in between all of that, I switched to wanting to be a movie producer and since then, “I want to be a movie producer when I grow up” stuck.

Try telling your parents now what it is that you want to do, good luck. Most parents want their children to be better than they were and for the most part that means, “don’t end up like me, 50+, divorced, with three kids a shitty pension and nothing to show for it”

But who cares what your parents want. Isn’t it YOUR Life? Your Dreams, your mistakes, your progress…your EVERYTHING??. Technically it is, but who owns your happiness? – You decide.
